Opening Hours
These standard opening hours are for high season (mid-June to mid-September) and tend
to decrease outside that time. Many businesses close completely over Christmas and
Easter; this is particularly the case outside larger cities.
Banks 8.15am to 3pm Monday to Wednesday and Friday, 8.15am to 5pm Thursday
Central Post Offices 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm Saturday; otherwise 9am
to 5pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm Saturday
Restaurants noon to 3pm and 6pm to 11pm
Shops 10am to 5pm Monday to Wednesday and Friday, 10am to 7pm Thursday, 10am to
2pm Saturday
Supermarkets 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm Saturday
Photography
Although few Norwegians are camera-shy, you should always ask permission before taking
a photo in Sami areas, where you may encounter some camera sensitivity, as well as in vil-
lages where whaling is a mainstay (people may be concerned that the photos will be used
against them in the media).
