Although it's less a chain than a collection of historic hotels and there are no membership
options, it's always worth checking out the worthwhile De Historiske network, which links
Norway's most historic old hotels and restaurants. The quality on offer is consistently high,
every hotel is architecturally distinguished and many are family-run.
Admittedly, they can be expensive, but they are almost always worth it.

The Fjord Pass enables discounts at 120 hotels, guesthouses, cabins and apartments
year-round; no free nights, but the discounts on nightly rates are considerable. Works best
