Set above the main road, is this functional, cheerless sort of hostel (single/double Nkr800/
950, four-bed cabins Nkr600), the main asset of which is its cafe-restaurant, with an at-
tractive open-air deck.

In addition to Juhls' Sølvsmie , there are a number of smaller shops and workshops where
you can pick up local Sami crafts.
Avzi Design HANDICRAFTS

Around 8km east of town in the tiny hamlet of Avzi (ask at the tourist office for direc-
tions), this friendly little showroom sells Sami mittens, shawls and other textiles.
Kautokeino Sølvsmie JEWELLERY

Next to the museum, this place offers finely crafted silver jewellery and other pieces in-
spired by Sami culture and the local environment.

Samekniv, on the road to the museum, is a small workshop with a small range of tradition-
al and modern knives.
