( GOOGLE MAP ; 78 46 61 51; Finlandsveien; mains Nkr130-225; 2-8pm)
This simple cafeteria in the centre of town serves up hearty local dishes and snacks, with
daily specials (starting at Nkr175) including reindeer on Sunday and a Wednesday fish
buffet. There are also other dishes such as shredded reindeer meat. The heavy wooden
benches resemble church pews and it's very much locals only in attendance.
Gammen NORWEGIAN
( GOOGLE MAP ; 78 46 88 60; mains Nkr225-385; 11am-10pm mid-Jun-mid-Aug)
It's very much reindeer or reindeer plus a couple of fish options at this summer-only rustic
complex of four large interconnected Sami huts run by the Rica Hotel. Although it may be
busy with bus-tour groups, it's an atmospheric place to sample traditional Sami dishes
from reindeer stew to fillet of reindeer or simply to drop in for a coffee or beer.

knives for everything from outdoor to kitchen use. They're real works of art, but stay true
to the Sami need for durability, made with birch-and-brass handles and varying steel qual-
ity. Prices start at Nkr840 for a Sami kid's knife up to Nkr1840 for the real deal.
To get here, turn southwest on Route 92 towards Ivalo at the lower of two main round-
abouts along the E6 in the centre of town. It's on your left after crossing the bridge.
