Rica Hotel Hammerfest
HOTEL
Constructed in agreeable mellow brick, this hotel has an attractive if somewhat dated bar
and lounge and well-furnished rooms - they're worth it if you get a harbour view, but over-
priced if not. Its Arctic Menu restaurant,
Skansen Mat og Vinstue
, serves excellent local
fare.
Hotel Skytterhuset
HOTEL
hotell
; Skytterveien 24; s/d from Nkr595/845; )
The three spurs of this secluded hotel overlooking the town look decidedly like barracks
from the outside and with good reason; it was originally built as living quarters for sum-
mertime fishwives from Finland who worked in the large Findus processing factory. Long
ago converted to a friendly, cosy hotel, it's a good option with a solarium and free sauna.

Redrum
CAFE
11am-2pm Mon,
to 6pm Tue-Thu, to 3am Fri, 11am-5pm & 9pm-3am Sat)
A couple of blocks back from the waterfront, Redrum, with its attractive contemporary de-
cor and flickering candles, saves its energy for weekend wildness, when there's regularly
live music. To the rear, there's a deep, more relaxed wooden patio. Wherever you sit, the
menu's divided into 'burgers' and 'non-burgers' - the latter includes fish and chips, Caesar
salad and pulled pork.
