Tromsø's version of the toy train trundles around between most of the main sites (although
it doesn't cross the bridge to the Arctic Cathedral) with commentary in eight languages.
The journey begins and ends at Stortorget square and lasts around 35 minutes.
Festivals & Events
In summer at the Arctic Cathedral, there are half-hour Midnight Sun Concerts (adult/child
Nkr150/50; 11.30pm mid-May to mid-August) and organ recitals (Nkr70; 2pm June and
July). The swelling organ and the light of the midnight sun streaming through the huge
west window could be one of the great sensory moments of your trip.
The Domkirke holds half-hour organ recitals (Nkr70; 5pm June, 3pm July) of classical
music and folk tunes.
Otherwise, Tromsø's two biggest annual bashes take place in deepest winter.

Sámi Week CULTURAL

Includes the national reindeer sledge championship, where skilled Sami whoop and crack
the whip along the main street. Early February.
Midnight Sun Marathon SPORTS

The world's most northerly marathon. In addition to the full 42km, there's also a half-
marathon and a children's race. A Saturday in June.
