Whale Safari WILDLIFE WATCHING
( 76 11 56 00; www.whalesafari.no ; Andenes; adult/child Nkr890/570)
Far and away the island's biggest outfit, Whale Safari runs popular whale-watching cruises
between late May and mid-September. It also operates the Whale Centre. Tours begin with
a guided visit to the centre, followed by a two- to four-hour boat trip. There's a good
chance of spotting minke, pilot, humpback and orca (killer whale).
Trips depart at least once daily with more sailings in high summer. Bad weather and/or
high seas only rarely prevent a Whale Safari sailing. All the same, try to build in an extra
day on the island, just in case you're unlucky. If you fail to spot at least one whale, your
money is refunded or you can take another trip for free. Your fee includes a snack, and
staff pass around the seasickness pills, just like airline boiled sweets, before takeoff.

trips (adult/child, 1½ hours, Nkr450/400).
