HORSE RIDING IN LOFOTEN
If the idea of taking in Lofoten's beauty by horseback appeals, there are two operators we
recommend.
Hov Hestegård HORSE RIDING
( 91 76 98 09, 76 07 20 02; www.hovhestegard.no ; Gimsøysand; 1hr/2hr/half-day/full-day trail ride
per person from Nkr450/850/1250/1950; May-Nov)
Fine trail rides on the small island of Gimsøya, which lies between Vestvågøy and
Austvågøy and is accessible off the E10.
Lofothest HORSE RIDING
( 40 64 00 75, 45 47 33 55; www.lofothest.no ; Valbergsveien 966, Rolvsfjord; 3/5hr trips per person
from Nkr1250/1950; May-Nov)
From three-hour up to two-day excursions across Vestvågøy, from Rolvsfjord, along the
Rv815 north of Stamsund.
Henningsvær
A delightful 8km shore-side drive southwards from the E10 brings you to the still-active
fishing village of Henningsvær, perched at the end of a thin promontory. Its nickname, 'the
Venice of Lofoten', may be a tad overblown but it's certainly the lightest, brightest and
trendiest place in the archipelago.
