In-Depth Information
In the Fru Haugans Hotel, tapestry-bedecked Hagestuen offers both à la carte dining and
an evening buffet (Nkr300) in summer.
Ellenstuen NORWEGIAN
( 75 11 41 00; mains Nkr255-315; 6-11pm )
Ellenstuen, in the Fru Haugans Hotel, is an intimate place that preserves many of the
hotel's original fittings. It has a particularly creative menu (if you're in luck, you'll find
roasted stag fillet and lightly smoked grouse breast in a raspberry sauce on offer).
Lille Torget BAR
( 75 17 04 14; Strandgate 24; snacks from Nkr60; 8am-4pm Mon-Sat)
With its decorative interior (admire the gorgeous reproduction art nouveau maiden bearing
a lamp at her heart) and a terrace opening onto the main square, this place serves great cof-
fee. Rune, its owner, was the 2008 winner of Coffee in Good Spirits, the key event in Nor-
way's annual coffee-making championship (he'll fashion subtle shapes in your foam too).
