Norsk Sagbruksmuseum MUSEUM

If you're interested in wood chopping and chipping, take a guided tour around this tribute
to an important local industry. Over the bridge, 4km east of town, it commemorates Nor-
way's first steam-powered sawmill (1853).

Namdal Museum has displays on local history, including the typical wooden sailing boats
of the area, and is - hold on to your hat - 'Norway's only museum featuring exhibits of
hospital equipment presented in chronological order'. Love it.
Activities
Bjørumsklumpen WALKING
An easy scenic 20-minute walk up Kirkegata from the centre will take you to the lookout
atop the prominent loaf-shaped rock (114m) with good views over Namsfjorden, Namsos
and its environs. About a third of the way up, a sign identifies a track leading to some im-
pressive WWII Nazi bunkers hewn from solid rock.
Trolley Ride TROLLEY RIDE

For exercise and for the sake of nostalgia, you can hire a trolley from Namsos Camping
and trundle it for 17km along the disused railway line between Namsos and Skage as it
follows the gentle River Nansen.
