Getting Around
Haugesund airport ( 52 85 79 00) is 13km southwest of the city. The airport bus
( www.flybussen.no/haugesund ; one-way adult/child Nkr70/40) has services to coincide with all
SAS and Norwegian flights, but not the Widerøe ones. For Ryanair flights, the service is
operated by Kystbussen ( www.kyst bussen.no ) , which connects with bus services to Bergen
and Stavanger.
Karmøy Island
Low-lying Karmøy island is blessed with natural beauty: besides a number of exquisite
pale sand beaches, it crams in forests, open marshes, heather uplands and lakes. Culturally
it's no slouch either, with a number of significant historical sites, pretty wooden villages
and, in early June, a spirited Viking Festival ( www.vikingfestivalen.no ) .
