First Hotel Hendersons City
DESIGN HOTEL

; Strandgata 161; s/d Nkr1160/1300)
One street up from the waterfront, in a grand, turn-of-the-century stone building, this is
Haugesund's most glamorous hotel. Rooms come in a variety of shapes and sizes: architec-
turally interesting and super spacious, as well as standard, if luxurious, business-travel-
ler-oriented rooms. Views over city rooftops to the surrounding islands from the top-floor
mansard rooms are worth upgrading for.
Public spaces are decked with chandeliers and velvet sofas and, along with the requisite
groaning breakfast buffet, there is a complimentary supper buffet, as well as an all-day
drinks and cake service.
