Part of a prettily-sited camping ground in the village of Ringøy, northeast of Kinsarvik,

Kristin and Tor will make you feel right at home in this renovated 16th-century farmhouse
just off the Rv13. The rooms are simple, but there's a warm feeling about this place. The
downstairs restaurant serves a small traditional menu (mains Nkr149 to Nkr210) as well as
a large selection of Thai dishes (Nkr125 to Nkr155) and Thai takeaway (mains Nkr115).
Hotel Ullensvang HISTORIC HOTEL
( 53 67 00 00; www.hotel-ullensvang.no ; Lofthus; s/d Nkr1345/1970, d with fjord views Nkr2370;
)
This enormous, luxurious place dates back to 1846, although it's now essentially a modern
resort hotel. It has terrific views, supremely comfortable rooms and a good restaurant
(lunch/dinner Nkr295/525). There's almost nothing you can't do here: it has a sauna, swim-
ming pool, gym, golf simulator, tennis and squash courts, and boat rental.
It's also a great jumping-off point for activities, including summer skiing, glacier walk-
ing and 'Queen Sonja's Panoramic Hiking Trail', a six-hour route that can be done either on
foot or skis. It's right on the fjord, between Lofthus and Ullensvang.
