In-Depth Information
This corner cafe sits in one of studenty Møhlenpris' impressively grand streets. Big
brunches are the thing: on Sundays they're washed down with glasses of sparkling wine or
microbrews from Flåm or Florø. A super-relaxed vibe belies the thoughtfulness behind
everything here. Interiors are all from recycled finds and the food is organic and sourced
from small, local suppliers.
Landmark
CAFE, BAR
cafe 11am-5pm Tue-Sun, bar
7pm-1am Tue-Thu, to 3.30am Fri & Sat)
This large, airy room, a beautiful example of 1930s Norwegian design and named for the
architect, Ole Landmark, is one that multitasks: day-time cafe, lecture and screening hall,
live-performance space, bar and venue for Bergen's best club nights. It's a favourite with
the city's large creative scene - you'll find them refreshingly unpretentious and ready to
really
kick on.
Garage
LIVE MUSIC
Garage has taken on an almost mythical quality for music lovers across Europe. They do
have the odd jazz and acoustic act, but this is a rock and metal venue at heart, with well-
known Norwegian and international acts drawn to the cavernous basement. Stop by for
their Sunday jam sessions in summer.
Apollon
BAR
One of Norway's oldest independent record stores (vintage: early '80s) is also one of Ber-
gen's happiest little bars. Flip through their excellent selection of new and secondhand in-
die, metal, folk, garage and psychedelia, then watch Bergen's hip kids go by from the win-
dow stools. Good selection of local beer on tap.
