Krog og Krinkel CAFE
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; Lille Øvregaten 14; 11am-7pm Mon-Sat, noon-5pm Sun)
Street-side tables line up along the cobbles in the warm weather, or you can venture down
into the cosy, comfortable basement filled with painted vintage furniture, and, yes, books.
The coffee is good and they make all their own boller and cakes onsite, including a sukses-
skake (almond meringue cake with custard topping; Nkr45) that will have you hooked at
first bite.
Kafemisjonen CAFE
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; Øvre Korskirkealmenning 5; 7.30am-6pm Mon-Fri, 10am-6pm Sat & Sun)
One of Norway's coffee greats, Kafemisjonen pleases with its espresso and airy, subtly
glamorous shopfront that pairs early 20th-century blue velvet and steel chairs with richly,
evocative tile work. If you've had your fill of boller and brownies, come here for Bergen's
best croissants.
Det Lille Kaffekompaniet CAFE
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; Nedre Fjellsmug 2; 10am-8pm Mon-Fri, 10am-6pm Sat & Sun)
This was one of Bergen's first third-wave coffee places and retains a super local feel.
Everyone overflows onto the neighbouring stairs when the sun's out and you're not sure
which table belongs to who.
Kaffebrenneri CAFE
( GOOGLE MAP ; kaffebrenneri.de.gpu.no ; Thormøhlensgate 45, Møhlenpris;
8am-7pm Mon-Fri,
from noon Sat & Sun)
Out in Møhlenpris, in an old shipyard, this independent coffee roastery has an onsite cafe
with outside seating and fresh, organic sandwiches and cakes. If you're headed out of town
and want a bag of ground beans to go, their 'Snop' blend is the business.
Also part of the offering, Dumpster Pizza does great thin-crust pizzas in a wood oven,
using vegetables that are from local farmers and otherwise would go to waste.
