At their traditional farm, the Slettede family offers an array of different accommodation
options in modern, fully-equipped cabins and apartments with views of both the Jotunhei-
men heights and Bøverdalen. Children will love the farm animals. It's all great value, but
they don't provide meals so you'll need to come prepared.
At Galdesand, turn south on the Galdhøpiggen road and continue 1.5km to the signpos-
ted turn-off for Storhaugen.
Jotunheimen Fjellstue LODGE

From the outside this modern mountain lodge is hugely outdone by its breathtaking sur-
rounds, but inside are light and airy rooms that are better than many in the area. There's a
busy in-house restaurant and cafe.
Bessheim LODGE

This superslick and organised mountain lodge, just 3km east of Gjendesheim, is the best
place to stay in the vicinity of the Besseggen ridge. Three-course set dinners cost Nkr335.
Book ahead in summer.

This historic hiking and mountaineering centre is a friendly yet laid-back base for explor-
ing Jotunheimen and Hurrungane, whatever your budget. The main building has wonderful
