This fine riverside hostel has a small cafe, tidy rooms, good cabins and delightful sur-
rounds to enjoy once the day-trippers have returned home. It's popular so be sure to book

Gjendesheim Lodge HUT

At the trailhead to the Besseggen trek, on the eastern side of the park, this highly organised
place has good-quality accommodation and meals. It's very popular so book ahead.
Valdresflya Vandrerhjem HOSTEL

Fifteen minutes' drive south from Gjendesheim, this rather uninspiring hostel in a bitterly
cold moorland setting prides itself on being the highest in northern Europe (1389m).
There's no guest kitchen, but breakfast costs Nkr80 and meals around Nkr100.
A number of walks start from here ranging from a child-friendly 3km round-trip hike up
Fisketjernnuten (1527m) to far more challenging treks.
