In-Depth Information
A busy, rambling place in the centre of town, the Nordal Turistsenter has comfy rooms
with thick sheep-skin rugs on the floor. It also has a cosy pub and a casual cafeteria-style
restaurant that serves simple meals (from Nkr175).
Fossberg Hotell HOTEL
( 61 21 22 50; www.fossberg.no ; s/d Nkr1040/1440; )
An appealing enough, though rather overpriced, place in the centre of town with tidy, pine-
clad rooms. It also has a range of cabins and apartments, and a popular cafeteria where the
food is nothing to write home about, but the outdoor tables are a pleasant place to do so.
Kuba-Kafe Isbar CAFE
(light meals & mains Nkr65-155; 10am-11pm mid-Jun-mid-Aug, shorter hours rest of year)
In the centre of town, this informal cafe is probably the best place in Lom for a quick, no-
frills meal. Aside from the usual snacks and fast-food choices, it does a small selection of
traditional Norwegian dishes, such as sour-cream porridge and smoked roasted reindeer
meat.
Fossheim Turisthotell Restaurant NORWEGIAN
( 61 21 95 00; www.fossheimhotel.no ; Fossheim Turisthotell; set dinner menu from Nkr380;
1-3.30pm & 7-10pm)
The traditional Norwegian food at the restaurant of the Fossheim Turisthotell is the best in
town, and although it constitutes a memorable meal for Norway, it wouldn't really stand
out anywhere in southern Europe. Specialities include wild trout, reindeer, elk and ptar-
migan.
