It's a gentle 1.5km walk from the car park (the trail is suitable for pushchairs and wheel
chairs - just). The turn-off for the pavilion is well signed off the E6 by Hjerkinn.
Sleeping & Eating
The original DNT Snøheim hut was, thankfully, judged to be too near the army's Hjerkinn
firing range and was replaced by the new self-service Reinheim hut, 5km north and at
1341m, in Stroplsjødalen. DNT also maintains several other self-service huts in the adja-
cent Skrymtheimen region; keys are available from the Dombås tourist office .

This charming and historic place of intriguing early-18th-century timber buildings is 13km
north of Hjerkinn on the E6. Every room is different although all are warm and cosy.
Locals will drive kilometres to come and enjoy the excellent evening meals (set menus
Nkr485 to Nkr895) and every other person driving past seems to stop for coffee and
waffles in the cafe.
Park information, maps, meals and accommodation are available here and there's a
small museum dedicated to the park. Musk oxen safaris can also be organised from here
(adult/child NKr350/275). It's 500m from tiny Kongsvold station (trains stop only on re-
quest).
