On the western side of the lake the two main sleeping options are Johnsgård Turist-
senter ( 62 45 99 25; www.johnsgard.no ; cabins Nkr240-745, camping Nkr180) , 9km west of
Buvika; and Langen Gjestegård ( 72 41 37 18; www.langen-gjestegaard.com ; s/d from
Nkr300/600, cabins Nkr350-1000) , a cosy turf-roofed farmhouse near the lake.
Getting There & Away
The historic ferry M/S Fæmund II ( 96 39 20 17; www.femund.no ; one-way adult/child
Nkr240/120 ) sails daily at 9am between mid-June and mid-August from Synnervika (also
spelt Søndervika), on the northern shore of Lake Femunden, to Elgå (adult/child one-way
Nkr240/120, 6½ hours return). From mid-June to late August, buses leave Røros train sta-
tion for Synnervika 45 minutes before the boat's departure. Buses for Røros later meet the
boat at Synnervika.
Oppdal

Oppdal is a quintessential feeder town for the Norwegian wilderness: there's nothing much
to detain you in town, but the surrounding countryside is beautiful with loads of activities
on offer.
