Gaustablikk Høyfjellshotell LODGE
( 35 09 14 22; www.gaustablikk.no ; s/d from Nkr1075/1590; )
With a prime location overlooking the lake and mountain, this lodge is one of Norway's
better mountain hotels. Rooms are modern and many have lovely views of Gausta, while
the evening buffet dinner (Nkr385) is a lavish affair. Geared towards a winter skiing crowd
(prices rise considerably in winter and advance reservations are necessary), it's also a great
place in summer.
Eating
Kinokafeen INTERNATIONAL
( 40 85 60 48; Storstulgate 1; mains Nkr120-179)
Kinokafeen, at the cinema, has a pleasing art-deco style and its outdoor tables (summer
only!) and fading interior make it the most memorable place to eat in the town centre.
Gaustablikk Høyfjellshotell NORWEGIAN
( 35 09 14 22; lunch specials from Nkr99, dinner buffet Nkr385)
Even if you're not staying here, this mountain hotel's enormous buffet is worth the trip up
the mountain and not just for the food - the views are stupendous.
