In-Depth Information
This 'jazz kitchen' chain has a few outlets around southern Norway. This one is a cosy
place to come for a drink or to see who might be playing on the weekend. They have a
pizza, piadina and bruschetta menu (Nkr149to Nkr234) so you can settle in for a while.
Some locals say that the pizza is the best in town; the coffee is decent too.

This excellent tourist office has helpful staff and lots of resources.
Getting There & Around
Several bus companies operate near-hourly buses between Kongsberg and Oslo (Nkr200,
1½ hours), as well as to Notodden (Nkr90, 35 minutes).
Hourly trains connect Kongsberg with Oslo (Nkr189, 1½ hours).
If you're driving your own car and park in the town's supermarket car park, make sure
you take a (free) ticket otherwise you'll get nailed with a hefty fine (yes, we talk from ex-
perience - bitter experience).
The tourist office hires out bicycles for a cost of Nkr185 a day.
The Telemark Canal
The 105km-long Telemark Canal system, a series of lakes and canals that connect Skien
and Dalen, with a minor branch from Lunde to Notodden, lifts and lowers boats a total of
72m in 18 locks. The canal was built for the timber trade between 1887 and 1892 by up to
400 workers. Today, taking a slow boat along the canals is one of the highlights of a visit
to southern Norway. For useful information, check out www.visittelemark.com .
