waterfront between Storgata and the water is lined with all manner of restaurants and bars,
most with pleasant outdoor terraces ideal for a summer's afternoon or evening

For burgers, snacks and coffee, cosy Lille Frederik is just the place. It's hugely popular in
summer, when snackers descend on the outdoor tables like seagulls, and queues can be
long. Steak and chips for Nkr109 is a good deal.

This fine place specialises in Norwegian dishes cooked in the sort of slow, old-fashioned
manner that guarantees a good meal. There's a formal indoor dining room or an informal
garden area out the back.
