sociable lounge area, good internet access, lots of travel info and a very central location.
All up, Oslo's new youth hostel is great news for budget travellers.

Located in the heart of the trendy new Vulkan development, a 25-minute walk northeast of
the city centre, the PS: Hotell is an industrial-chic space with cool, grey-toned rooms that
make the most of the tiny space allotted to them. Considering the price, this is a really
good deal.

This huge traveller-savvy hostel boasts an international atmosphere, rather sterile rooms, a
laundry, luggage room, kitchens (some rooms also contain kitchens) and a small bar.
Breakfast costs an extra Nkr60, linen Nkr70 and parking Nkr230 per 24 hours. The loca-
tion isn't very scenic, but it's convenient, with Grünerløkka and the city centre only a five-
minute walk away.

Located in a quiet, pleasant neighbourhood, this homey pension offers one of the best
deals in the capital. The building dates from 1890 and many of the original features (high
ceilings, rose designs) remain. Rooms are bright, airy and beautifully decorated, with
fridges and kettles, and there's a small garden to lounge about in on sunny days.
It's very popular, so book ahead.
