Oslo
Norway's Cultural Home
If it happened in Norwegian history, there's probably a museum in Oslo dedicated to the
event, from the Vikings to Thor Heyerdahl and beyond. Some of the towering icons of na-
tional culture have wall space here as well.
Beautiful Buildings
Oslo's growing architectural reputation was cemented with the opening of the award-win-
ning Opera House in 2008, but there's plenty more to turn the head, from a 14th-century
fortress to the distinctive parliament and town hall and a new contemporary-art gallery.
The Great Outdoors
Escape the pressures of city life and take to the stands of green that surround Oslo. Much of
the activity coalesces around the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and the Nordmarka woodland.
