Rice hulls are also used in other applications:
• Fibre used in pet food
• To increase the lautering ability of a mash when brewing beer
• As illers for ireworks
• For improving the extraction eficiency of fruit-juice pressing
• Stufing pillows
• Insulation boards
This list shows the versatility of rice hulls and there is no doubt that as research and
development takes place, newer applications will emerge. For most end processes,
the inherent moisture content may be a concern and may have to be controlled by
pre-drying before use.
