A parabolic dish resembles a TV satellite dish; an umbrella-shaped reflector tracks
the sun and concentrates light onto a receiver located at the focal point. The receiver
heats a fluid or gas, which is used to generate electricity using a heat-driven engine or
micro-turbineattachedtothereceiver(Richteretal. 2009 ;JRC 2011 ) .Themajoradvantage
of the parabolic dish over the other models of CSP plant is that it can be installed on a very
small scale, since each dish operates as a stand-alone unit, similar to a wind turbine.
