A kilometre down the Lemmenjoki turn-off from the main Inari-Kittilä road, with splen-
did water frontage on spectacular Menesjärvi, this place has smart cottages, good facilities,
and boat and canoe hire. You can also camp here. It offers good boat trips on the Lemmen-
joki.

By the water in Njurgulahti, this has rooms, cottages and some further-flung log cabins.
You can also pitch a tent for pennies. It offers English-speaking river cruises (from €10 for
a runabout to €45 for a seven-hour day including gold-panning) and rents canoes. The res-
taurant does lunch specials and salmon and reindeer mains (€13 to €22), including reindeer
tongue.

Three kilometres short of the Lemmenjoki turn-off, this wilderness hotel has a superb pos-
ition on the shores of one of the region's most beautiful lakes. Spruce, colourful rooms,
some with kitchenette, are complemented by excellent activities and a flexible attitude that
makes staying here a delight. Skis, canoes and kayaks are available.
There's a great wood-burning sauna with outdoor hot tub that's the place to be in winter.
