Luontokeskus Naava NATURE CENTRE

By the roundabout in Pyhä, this modern nature centre has a good exhibition on the geology
and ecosystem of the area, information on Pyhä-Luosto National Park, and activities such
as hiking and fishing. There's a decent cafe too.
Pyhä-Luosto National Park WALKING

This park's core is the line of fells stretching 35km from Pyhä to beyond Luosto. It pre-
serves old-growth forest with endangered plant species, the southern Lapland fell ecosys-
tem, and aapa (open bog) areas harbouring snipe, bean geese, swans and golden eagles.
There are several marked trails, which, together with the resorts' network of ski trails,
mean that walkers are well provided for.
There are several huts for overnighting.
Pyhätunturi & Luostotunturi SNOW SPORTS

At Pyhä there are 14 ski runs and nine lifts. The longest run is 1.8km, with a vertical drop
of 280m. At Luosto there are seven runs and three lifts, plus a half-pipe and snowboard
slopes. Lift passes here are valid for Ruka too. Between them, Pyhä and Luosto have
around 200km of trails for cross-country skiers, some 40km of which are lit

In summer take trips on quad bikes to the amethyst mine or reindeer farm, or head to the
river for canoeing and fishing. Winter has similar jaunts on snowmobiles; there are also
husky- and reindeer-sledging excursions.
