In-Depth Information
Kemijärvi's eating and drinking scene pretty much begins and ends here, and it's also the
better of the town's two hotels. It's a welcoming spot with comfortable, fairly unadorned
rooms. Some are in a newer wing, while others have private sauna; spacious family rooms
with sloping ceilings sit at the top. The restaurant features hearty fare (mains €13 to €28)
with a popular lunch buffet (€11.50).

Pyhä-Luosto
016
The area between the fells of Luosto (514m) and Pyhä (540m) forms a popular winter
sports centre. Most forms part of Pyhä-Luosto National Park, excellent for trekking. Pyhä
and Luosto both have ski slopes and are fully serviced resort 'villages'. They make value-
packed, if quiet, places to stay in summer with bargain modern apartments and log cot-
tages available. Pyhä is about 14km from the main Kemijärvi-Sodankylä road, while Lu-
osto is the same distance east of the Rovaniemi-Sodankylä road. A good road connects the
two resorts, 25km apart.
