SCULPTURE
This wood-sculpting festival is held in late June or early July every odd-numbered year. It
attracts artists from many countries, whom you can watch as they create their works.

Just beyond Camping Kemijärvi, this complex offers various sleeping choices. Cheerful
green-roofed wooden cottages come with bathroom, kitchen and sauna, while lakefront
apartments are even fancier. In the reception building, wooden bunk rooms offer space and
value, and simple private rooms share the same kitchen and bathroom facilities. HI dis-
count. Reception closed between 10am and 5pm. You can hire canoes and bikes here.

Very close to the town centre on Pöyliöjärvi, a secondary part of the main lake, this is a
friendly grassy campground with not a great deal of privacy if it's full.
