( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 016-342-0130; www.guesthouseborealis.com ;Asemieskatu 1;s/d/tr €53/

Cordial hospitality and proximity to trains make this family-run spot a winner. Rooms are
simple, bright and clean; some have a balcony. The airy dining room is the venue for
breakfast, featuring Finnish porridge. Guests have use of a kitchen (and sauna for a small
charge), and there are two self-contained apartments. Prices are a little higher in winter;
substantially so over Christmas.
Hostel Rudolf HOSTEL

Run by Hotel Santa Claus, where you inconveniently have to go to check-in, this staffless
hostel is Rovaniemi's only one and can fill up fast. Rooms are private and good for the
price, with spotless bathrooms, solid desks and bedside lamps; dorm rates get you the
same deal. There's also a kitchen available but don't expect a hostel atmosphere. HI dis-
count.
Ounaskoski Camping CAMPGROUND
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 016-345-304; www.ounaskoski-camping-rovaniemi.com ; Jäämerentie 1;
campsites €14 plus per adult/child €8/4; late May-late Sep; )
Just across the elegant bridge from the town centre, this campground is perfectly situated
on the riverbank. There are no cabins, but plenty of grassy tent and van sites, with great
views over the Ounaskoski.
