To get right away from it all, take a 30-minute boat ride (adult/child return €18/10) from
Poroholma campground to this 1952-built lighthouse rising 36m above the sea surround-
ing the island of Kylmäpihlaja. Nautical-styled rooms are simple (all bathrooms are
shared, even the suite with four-way views and a kitchenette) but atmospherically fur-
nished with wrought-iron beds. On-site restaurant.

Enter via Pakkahuoneenkatu to reach this freshly renovated 18-room boutique hotel near
the Old Town. Small but chic rooms done out in dove-greys, charcoals and Arctic whites
have patterned wallpaper. Breakfast, sauna and parking included in the rate make it the
best all-round bargain in town.

Once a warehouse in the old fish market, this is now the Old Town's only hotel. Its 20
rooms embrace modern Scandinavian design with lino flooring, leatherette chairs,
flatscreen TV and views of the park or courtyard. Service is attentive, and the restaurant,

Look out in restaurants and bars for Rauma's signature drink, Puksprööt - a juniper-rowan
liqueur mixed with white wine and served with tar-infused rope!
