During the last week of July, Lieksa Brass Week attracts international musicians.
Sleeping & Eating
Lieksa has a handful of places to stay but for more atmosphere consider options in nearby
Vuonislahti, Koli and Ruunaa.
Decent places to eat and drink are limited but you'll find supermarkets on Lieksa's main
street, Pielisentie.
Timitranlinna HOSTEL

Once the national training centre for the Finnish border guard, this HI-affiliated hostel is
peacefully situated about 800m south of the main street. Its 1st-floor rooms are standard
fare, but kayaks are available for exploring the nearby river.
Timitraniemi Camping CAMPGROUND

At the mouth of the river, well-equipped Timitraniemi has 45 log cabins of varying sizes
and plushness and plenty of grassy pitches. Facilities include a lakeside cafe, saunas, and
bikes and boats for hire; rafting and fishing trips can be arranged.
Lieksan Leipomo BAKERY

In a beautiful wooden building, this endearing bakery is a local favourite for filling lunch
buffets and fantastic cakes.
