From the Luontokeskus Ukko nature centre, it's a brief walk to Ukko-Koli , the hill's
highest point; 200m further is Akka-Koli . On Akka-Koli's western slope is a 'Temple of
Silence', an open space for contemplation, with a stone altar and wooden cross mounted in
the rock. For a slightly longer walk, it's 2.6km from Ukko to Koli village or a steep 1.9km
walk to Satama.

By the Sokos Hotel Koli's upper car park, this modern nature centre has exhibitions on the
history, flora, fauna and geology of the park, and information on hiking.
Koli Ski Resort SNOW SPORTS

Koli is one of the closest ski resorts to Helsinki and southern Finland, with two skiing
areas. Loma-Koli ( 010-762-3631) , with four slopes, is suitable for snowboarders and
families; Ukko-Koli ( 010-762-3630) has six steeper, more challenging slopes. There are
more than 60km of cross-country trails, including 22km of lit track.
Summer Chair Lift CHAIR LIFT

Across from the Sokos Hotel Koli's upper car park, a summer chair lift sweeps you down
the east side of Koli Hill to the shore of Lake Pielinen and back. Definitely not for the ver-
tigo prone!
