Built in 1826, this lovingly preserved Russian home was owned by the merchant Wolkoff
family from 1872 to 1986, and its 10 rooms have been maintained as they were in the late
1800s. The house is visitable only by 40-minute guided tours. From early June to late
August, English tours depart at quarter to the hour. The rest of the season, tours in Finnish
depart at quarter past the hour, with English-language audio guides available.
Lappee Church CHURCH

Diagonally across the park from its bell tower, the adorable wooden Lappee Church was
built in 1794 to an unusual 'double cruciform' floor plan, the only one of its kind in Fin-
land. South of the church stretches the graveyard, with an evocative war memorial , which
features poignant cubist and modernist sculptures commemorating Finns who died in the
Winter and Continuation Wars.

Myllysaari BEACH
On the lakeshore this sandy beach has an outdoor swimming pool, beach volleyball and a
beach sauna ( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; admission €6, heated dressing rooms €7.65; women
4-8pm Wed & Fri, men 4-8pm Tue & Thu) . Hardy souls can swim here in winter when two pools
are cut into the ice.
