An historic Kuopio hotel that reopened in 2012 after complete remodelling, the Atlas is
now the town's most appealing option, not least for its prime location on the kauppatori.
The commodious modern rooms are of good size, with a sofa, are well soundproofed and
offer perspectives over the square, or, more unusually, the interior of a department store.
Prices are variable and there are three grades of room (superiors are €25 to €40 more
than standards) plus suites.

Though it feels faded in parts, this spa hotel 6km south of town still makes a great place to
stay, largely because of the huge scope for activities. The pool complex is good (available
to nonguests for €12.50), and the modernised rooms are spacious and attractive. Excellent
family packages are offered on its website. Take bus 7/9, or it's €25 in a cab.
Nordic rooms sharing kitchens and with full use of the hotel's facilities, plus

modern pads with all the trimmings, including (for very little extra) a sauna.

Well located near the harbour on a quiet street, this cordial independent hotel makes a
good address. Regular rooms are good-sized and pleasant (twins are a fair bit larger than
doubles); the superiors (s/d €104/124), in a modern wing, add big windows, extra mod-
cons and a stylish look. A session in the smart sauna is included, and parking's free. Prices
drop €20 on weekends.
