The bus and train stations share the Matkakeskus building. Daily express buses connect
Jyväskylä to southern Finnish towns, including hourly departures to Helsinki (€50.20, four
to five hours). Some services require a change.
There are regular trains from Helsinki (€56.10, four hours) via Tampere, and some
quicker direct trains.
Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
The airport is 23km north of the city centre; a few buses between Jyväskylä and other
towns stop in here (€6 to €10: check www.matkahuolto.fi for times). A taxi is around €40.
BICYCLE
Jyväskylä is great to explore by bike. The tourist office has a list of bike-hire operators and
maps of suggested three-to-five-day Lakeland circular routes.

BUS
Local buses all leave from Vapaudenkatu, near the tourist office. Tickets cost €3.30 to
€6.80 depending on distance. Day tickets can be bought at the tourist office - value if
you'll be making three or more journeys.
