As the name suggests, this is right by the train station. It's a sleek, beautifully designed
place with a minimalist feel to the decor, based on soothing pink and mauve lighting
breaking up the chic whites and blacks. Superior-plus rooms are particularly enticing, with
dark-wood sauna and balcony, and don't cost a whole lot more. Facilities are modern, ser-
vice excellent and prices competitive.
There are also several accessible rooms, with motorised beds.
Hotelli Victoria HOTEL

Just on the other side of the train station from the city centre, this friendly hotel offers
sound summer value with its spruce rooms, free internet and commendable breakfast
spread. Rooms are light and quiet despite the busy road and there's a good sauna (in-
cluded), 20m pool and free parking. It's usually cheaper than these maximum rates. Closed
most of December. Bike hire available.
Sokos Hotel Tammer HOTEL

)
Constructed in 1929, this is one of Finland's oldest hotels and enjoys a fine rapids-side
location. After the gloriously old-fashioned elegance of the public areas, the rooms, behind
ornate doors, are a little disappointing, though they have the expected facilities and Nordic
comfort levels. Parking is very limited; a good breakfast buffet and sauna are included.
Omenahotelli HOTEL
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 0600-18018; www.omenahotels.com ;Hämeenkatu 7;r €60-96; )
On the main drag and very handy for the train station, this receptionless hotel offers the
usual comfortable rooms with twin beds, a microwave, a kettle and a fold-out couch.
Rooms are great value for a family of four, for example. Book online or via the terminal at
the entrance.
