This traditional place is Finland's oldest operating public sauna. It's a great chance to ex-
perience the softer steam from a traditionally heated sauna rather than the harsher electric
ones. It's a couple of kilometres west of the city centre; buses 8, 11 and 13 among others
head out there. There's a cafe on-site, and massages can be arranged. Take a towel or rent
one there.
Cruises
There are plenty of summer options on Tampere's two magnificent lakes. Trips on
Näsijärvi leave from Mustalahti Quay, while Laukontori Quay serves Pyhäjärvi. All
cruises can be booked at the tourist office.

It also runs a Poet's Way cruise as well as another spectacular trip to Visavuori (one
way/return €52/78, 4½ hours, 9.30am, Thursday to Saturday early June to mid-August),
and on to Hämeenlinna (one way/return €58/87, 8½ hours).
