The islands' appealingly barren landscape attracted Bronze Age seal hunters and
Hanseatic traders.
Sankta Anne Kyrka

Turkish pirate ship, was built on top of a medieval Franciscan monastery - the monks'
chapel and ruined walls make for a pensive evening stroll. Nearby, Otterböte, where seal
hunters set up camp 3000 years ago, is one of the archipelago's most important archae-
ological sites. Little remains, but a tangle of atmospheric walking trails criss-cross the
area.
Kökar Homestead Museum
