The hilltop location can be a tough walk with a lot of baggage but rooms here are clean
and bright with a desk and TV, and they connect with a large shared kitchen and bathroom
(two of the family apartments have private kitchens and bathrooms). Prices include break-

Surrounded by sprawling gardens that run down to the river, this magnificent French-style
manor completed in 1891 has just 20 rooms split between the main period-furnished man-
or house, the guest house and smaller garden cottage. It's 9km north of Kotka (2.2km east
of the Kotka turn-off from the E18 motorway).

Attached to Kotka's concert hall, charcoal-hued Vausti offers Kotka's finest dining. The
seasonal menu is mostly traditional Finnish: butter-fried perch, cider-braised pork cheek
with crispy pork neck, reindeer and cranberry. Vegetarians are well catered for, with dishes
such as cabbage rolls filled with stewed lentils and artichoke cooked two ways.
