In-Depth Information
BOAT
Turku is a major gateway to Sweden and Åland. The harbour, about 3km southwest of the
city centre, has terminals for Silja Line ( GOOGLE MAP ; www.tallinksilja.fi ) and Viking Line
( GOOGLE MAP ; www.vikingline.fi ) . Both companies sail to Stockholm (11 hours) and Mar-
iehamn (six hours). Prices vary widely according to season and class, with deck-class one-
way tickets starting from €20. Finnlink ( www.finnlines.com ) sails to Sweden from nearby
Naantali, though this service doesn't take foot passengers.
Tickets are available at the harbour, from Viking Line in the Hansa shopping centre, or
Silja Lines at Aurakatu 5. Book ahead during high season if you plan to take a car or if
you're travelling over a weekend.
It's also possible to travel to Sweden and Åland via the Turku archipelago.
