Jakke River Ferry
CRUISE
Floating through the centre of town, this laid-back river ferry with an on-board bar makes
five stops but it's also possible to hail it from the bank if there's room for it to dock. Tick-
ets include travel on the little
Jokke tourist train
on the river's northern bank so you can
complete a circuit (around an hour all up).

Swaying bridges, swings, jumps and cable slides reach heights of up to 20m at this state-
of-the-art ropes course; there's also a low-ropes course for little would-be Tarzans and
Janes. It's 4km southeast of the town centre; take bus 7, 7A and 12.

Held over a variable long weekend in summer (usually late June), this lively event brings a
Middle Ages market back to the Vanha Suurtori (Old Great Sq) near Turku Cathedral.
Paavo Nurmi Marathon
SPORT
Named for legendary Finnish distance runner Paavo Nurmi (aka the Flying Finn), this in-
ternational marathon in late June/early July loops through the town centre and Ruissalo is-
land.
