Theme-y but good quality and light-hearted, this representation of a logger's mess hall fits
a lot of specialities from around Finland into its short but tasty menu. Serving staff in peas-
ant tops are happy to explain the dishes, which include excellent fishy mixed starters and
quality mains that might include succulent slow-roasted lamb or Arctic char. Summer din-
ing is a pleasure on the courtyard terrace.

Thought of by many as Helsinki's best restaurant, Olo occupies smart new premises in a
handsome 19th-century harbourside mansion. It's at the forefront of modern-Suomi
cuisine, and its memorable degustation menus incorporate both the forage ethos and a little
molecular gastronomy. The shorter 'journey' turns out to be quite a long one, with numer-
ous small culinary jewels. Book a few weeks ahead.
Savoy
FINNISH

Originally designed by Alvar and Aino Aalto, this is definitely a standout dining room,
with some of the city's best views. The food is a modern Nordic tour de force, with the
'forage' ethos strewing flowers and berries across plates that bear the finest Finnish game,
fish and meat.
