Boat trips From Easter to Oct, two operators offer superb
trips from Elgol to Loch Coruisk, taking 1hr each way, with
up to half a day ashore: the Bella Jane (daily; £14 single, £24

Glenbrittle Campsite End of road, Glenbrittle
T 01478 640404. With sea views and the beach in front,
and mountains behind, this spacious, natural site is the
best of both worlds. The bad news is midges. Thousands
of them, though they vanish with a breeze. April-Sept.

the moors from Elgol pier then left at the T-Junction to find

It's a homely B&B with a big welc ome and sea views to Sleat
from rooms - free wi-fi too. £72
Sligachan Bunkhouse On A87 T 01478 650458,

beyond the back door from this modern, clean, no-frills
bunkhouse adjacent to the Sligachan Hotel . Within are
large dorm rooms with some of the largest bunks you'll see
plus a laundry, a s pacio us kitchen and a small lounge with

Sligachan Hotel and Campsite On A87 T 01478

for hikers is almost embraced beneath Cuillin's peaks. Along-
side dated but comfy enough en-suite rooms, it maintains the
barn-like Seamas' Bar which serves breakfasts plus dishes like
venison and chestnut stew or haggis, neaps and tatties (£8-
12). A campsite is over the road (no telephone) - the midges

Minginish
If the Cuillin has disappeared into the mist for the day and you have your own
transport, you can while away a happy afternoon exploring the nearby Minginish
peninsula, north of Glen Brittle.

One ideal wet-weather activity is a guided tour of the Talisker whisky distillery , which
produces a sweet full-bodied single malt with a whiff of smoke and peat. Skye's only
distillery is situated on the shores of Loch Harport at CARBOST , not at the village of
Talisker itself, which lies on the west coast of Minginish.

Old Inn and Waterfront Bunkhouse Carbost

building and lochside location lend this bunkhouse a
cheerful holiday atmosphere. It's managed by the historic
Old Inn next door, which provides good bar meals - fresh
local seafood plus cheaper staples like haggis, neaps and
tatties in a whisky cre am s auce - for around £10 a main.

Not just the best hostel on Skye but awarded the best
in Scotland in 2012. Housed in a converted school, it's
an appealing blend of the practical - solid bunks, an
