In-Depth Information
transport. Over a hundred miles from any other major settlement yet with a
population rapidly approaching 100,000, Inverness is the only city in the Highlands.
Crowned by a pink crenellated castle and lavishly decorated with flowers, the city
centre still has some hints of its medieval street layout, though unsightly concrete
blocks do an efficient job of masking it. Within walking distance of the centre are
peaceful spots along by the Ness, leafy parks and friendly B&Bs located in prosperous-
looking stone houses.
