Figure 3.19. During January and February 1912, Campbell's party explored the deep northern end of
Terra Nova Bay. They correctly mapped the mouth of Priestley Glacier but misunderstood the head-
reach of Campbell Glacier. In fact, this glacier does not arise on the side of Mount Melbourne but
descends from a subtle divide, with most of the flow coming from Boomerang Glacier (see Fig. 3.11).
Campbell Glacier, as it is mapped today, drains the south side of Mount Melbourne and flows as a
graceful ice tongue into the northern end of Terra Nova Bay (see Fig. 3.18).
