'PART' for radical cure of ill patients and 'post-travel PART' for healthy
travellers.
Causal prophylaxis
involves drugs active against early develop-
mental forms in hepatocytes, thus preventing both the acute attack and
the seeding of the liver with hypnozoites negating the need for post-travel
PART. Daily primaquine during exposure achieves this and is termed
'primaquine primary prophylaxis'.
