Suitability
Suitable to emerging products that are examples of extreme nonlinear systems
where slight variations in assumptions can lead to drastic changes in outcomes,
which can be caused by unknown variation from tolerances, wear, and environ-
ment (Stevens et al., 2007).
2.3.2.1 UnifiedProcess. The Unified Software Development Process or Uni-
fied Process (UP) is a popular iterative and incremental software development process
framework. The best-known and extensively documented refinement of the Unified
Process is the Rational Unified Process (RUP). The Unified Process is not simply a
process but an extensible framework, which should be customized for specific or-
ganizations or projects. The RUP is, similarly, a customizable framework (Unified
Process, 2008). As a result, it often is impossible to say whether a refinement of
the process was derived from UP or from RUP, and so the names tend to be used
interchangeably (Unified Process, 2008). The name Unified Process (as opposed to
